Get Cheap Car Insurance In Utah
Reader’s Question:
Where should I go to get cheap car insurance in Utah? I tried my local shopping mall but I didn’t have much luck. Thanks
Mary
Salt Lake City, Utah
Hi Mary,
The local shopping mall may be the easiest place to look for car insurance but it is rarely the most competitive place to shop. Rarely will you find a selection of insurers and agents to choose from, plus most outlets in a shopping mall have high leases to cover and this means higher prices.
The best way to get cheap car insurance in Utah is to use the internet. This will provide you with details of many agents and insurers that will provide you quotes. It may take some time to go through your details with each agent and insurer but by approaching many providers you are more likely to get a cheaper quote.
If this isn’t appealing then you could listen out for insurance adverts on the TV and radio. Try to all at least five this is the only way to get cheap car insurance. If you approach just one you have nothing to bargain with. For example, by getting just two quotes you may be able to get the more expensive to lower their price or match the other quote. Increase this to five and your quotes should start to get more competitive.
Also talk to friends and work colleagues; they may be able to recommend a good insurer or agent if they have already been through the above process.
Cheap Auto Insurance in Utah
Reader’s Question:
I got pulled over for speeding here in Utah. Will my first ticket have an effect on my car insurance rates? I am in search of cheap auto insurance in Utah! help………please!
Benny
Orem, UT
Most car insurance companies in Utah base their policy rates on many factors, and one of them is your traffic violations. So getting a speeding ticket will most likely affect your car insurance rates.
Some states regard speeding or driving at high speeds as a felony, and a felony is not just a simple traffic violation. A felony is punishable by at least a year in prison, so better be careful when driving.
Apart from being arrested, your license can also be revoked in some states, especially if you’re driving at speeds of twenty miles per hour or more. Speeding violations is definitely a bad thing for your driving record especially if you have car insurance premiums to pay. So you better pray that traffic cops will only give you a regular ticket for speeding, and you might be able to have that ticket erased from your record after attending a traffic school. And if you can get your speeding ticket removed, your car insurance rates might not be affected. In some instances, there are car insurance companies that might let a first speeding ticket slide. But there are also some companies that will classify you as a high-risk driver, thus boosting your car insurance rates up!
The best thing to do is to get in touch with your local agent so you can clarify certain company policies regarding speeding tickets and insurance rates. Try getting quotes from different car insurance companies, so you can find out which ones are better. You have two options: pick up the phone or turn on your PC.

Auto Insurance Utah
Reader’s Question:
I am planning to get auto insurance for my car. I am only looking to get the minimum liability insurance in Utah. How much do I get?
Helena
Salt Lake City UT
In Utah, all drivers must carry proof of car insurance and present it to any police officer upon request.
In Utah the required liability limits is 25/50/15. This means you need to get bodily injury liability limits of $25,000 per person up to $50,000 per accident and $15,000 per accident for property damage.
The no-fault law of Utah also requires drivers to purchase a minimum of $3,000 in personal protection injury (PIP). This type of coverage pays for your medical expenses in case of an accident.
If you want protection against damages caused to you and your passengers by an uninsured motorist you can get the minimum limits of Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage of $25,000 per person up to $50,000 per accident for any bodily injury caused by an uninsured motorist. Hope this helps with your search for auto insurance in Utah!

DUI Car Insurance in Utah – Cheap SR22 Insurance
Reader’s Question:
What is an SR22 DUI car insurance in Utah. I was required to get one but I am not sure what it is.
Shane
Salt Lake City UT
There are simple ways for motorists to avoid getting a conviction and the subsequent requirement for filing an SR22 Utah. But first, what is an SR22 and who needs to file it? An SR22 Utah is a form, not an insurance, that a motorist must have to provide proof of financial capability. This form has to be filed by an insurance company attesting that the motorist can pay for liabilities in case of accidents.
Not every driver is required to have an SR22, only those who have been convicted of serious driving violations. These violations include: driving without an active license, driving under the influence, driving while intoxicated, and driving without a vehicle insurance. Other factors could prompt the court to ask a motorist to have an SR22. It has to be noted that filing for an SR22 is not cheap. It’s not also easy to find an insurer willing to insure a high-risk driver. So, it’s best for motorists to avoid being ordered to have one.
The most basic way to avoid getting a conviction is to become a good and responsible driver. Always follow traffic rules and practice defensive driving at all times. Nothing beats being careful and cautious on the road. Another simple way of avoiding an SR22 is not to drive when you have consumed an alcohol. Leave your car and get a cab when you need to attend a function where drinking is unavoidable.
Even if you think you’re still capable of driving safely, it’s safe to veer toward the side of caution. Alcohol slows down your reflexes and could make you sleepy. This is particularly dangerous when you need to drive far. If you can’t hitch a ride with a friend, just get a cab and pick up your car when you’re sober the next day.
Utah Auto Insurance Quotes – Free
Reader’s Question:
Are all insurance companies in Taylorsville, Utah uses credit score to determine your Utah auto insurance quotes?
Wood
Taylorsville, UT
Not all insurance companies check credit score when an individual buys car insurance so you may be able to find one in Taylorsville UT that would not check your credit record as part of their rating process.
The best thing that you can do is to shop around for car insurance quote. You may find an insurer that does not check or you might find that using credit score, as a rating factor will still provide you a competitive rate.
When you are applying for auto insurance you may ask the agent or insurance carrier about whether and how credit score will be used in the rating and underwriting process. There is a good chance your current insurance carrier will be looking at your credit information as one part of the total rating factors that are examined when calculating rates.
Utah Auto Insurance Requirement
Reader’s Question:
I just want to know for how long do I have to carry the sr22. I live in Utah. What is the Utah auto insurance requirement?
Jeff
Thank you for asking Jeff.
In Utah, it actually depend upon the reason for the SR-22 to be required to an individual that determines the length that you must carry the SR22.
The UT Department of Motor Vehicle site states that if you were found operating a vehicle without insurance the law requires the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to maintain proof of the person’s owner’s or operator’s financial responsibility for a three-year period and the insurance company must inform DPS if the insurance policy is terminated or cancelled. If an individual who has been cited under this law cancels his or her insurance policy, the individual must surrender his or her driver license to DPS.
This proof of financial responsibility certificate must be maintained for three years following the date of the suspension or revocation or, in the case of an unsatisfied judgment, three years from the date of reinstatement. Most of the time, people choose to purchase an sr22 to meet the states liability requirement.
You may get more information on financial responsibility by calling the Financial Responsibility Section, Driver License Division at phone number (801) 965-4393.
Goodluck!
